One of the most commonly-consumed forms of media is video games. To say that there are many titles would be an understatement, but some have sold better than others. Internet marketing companies will tell you that advertising plays a huge role in the matter. When the right campaigns are built, success is inevitable. When it comes to advertising, as far as video games are concerned, here are the titles that benefited the most.

Let's start with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, which was released in 2011, for the Nintendo 3DS. Not only was this game a remake of a beloved action-adventure title, but it was bolstered by commercials featuring Robin Williams and his daughter, Zelda. The commercials captured the whimsical nature of the popular video game series, and it's easy to imagine that it helped with sales. Any Internet marketing company will say the same.

Another noteworthy video game marketing campaign, according to the likes of fishbat.com, is Mario Kart 8. Despite the Wii U's less-than-stellar success at the time, this particular racing game catapulted the system's sales several times over. It's easy to see why, given the reputation of the long-running video game series. Sometimes the best marketing strategies are the ones that stand out from the rest, which was the cause for Just Cause 3. For those that don't remember, Square Enix announced a contest where the winner would come away with their own island. Yes, a physical island one would walk and relax on was the prize, which was nothing short of ambitious. The attention brought to the contest in question undoubtedly helped with this game's sales.

One can go on and on about the marketing campaigns that video games benefited from, but these are a few of the most important ones. They have been able to do everything from tug at one's heartstrings to appeal to their sense of competition. It can be argued that these games would have sold well regardless, which may be true. However, if you have the right promotional campaigns in place, sales can only be helped.
